The PSP 3000 console was first released in October 2008, unlike its predecessor, it had a much brighter screen to enhance game play for players. The console sold 267,000 units in its first month of release in Japan, enhancing its popularity in the market place. The console was the final type of its style to be produced, after being taken over by its successor the PSP GO in 2009. In 2012 the PSP 3000 console was discontinued.
