The console was released at the end of the following year on 12th December 2004 in Japan, 24th March in 2005 in the North America and 1st September 2005 in Europe. The console sold 1 million units in its first week for sale in Europe and worldwide during its life time sold 82 million units, combine with its successors. The console has since been discontinued from production.
